At least she hasn't discovered chocolate yet!

In addition to her four month shots and monthly measuring (13lb 15oz, 25inches) Lilah was given the green like to start eating rice cereal (and oatmeal and barley).

Jason and I weren't all that nervous about how she would like being spoon fed as she has been sitting with us at the table for a few weeks playing with her spoon and trying to feed herself. As you can see from the photos, we were right and she can't seem to get enough of the stuff!
Now that she realizes that good comes from other sources, she is trying out everything new by putting it in her mouth. The example below was sushi the other night - although we keep telling her she has to wait until she is at least two for raw fish!

















After the chopstick incident we decided Lilah to see how she would react to other new things so we put her in a bouncy seat that Beth and Darryl had and she LOVED IT! And she didnt't even try to eat it :)

Lilah was four months old...

...yesterday! And although we did take pictures with the bear, I was a bit too tired to post them. Jason is finally getting over being sick and it's been quite a long week. So with no further ado here they are in order...


Tomorrow Lilah goes for her four month appt. so I will make sure to post all that we learn. Wish us luck for her four month shots!

And what a week it was.....

Waking up this past Saturday morning, Jason and I realized we don't even think we know what happened last week it was so crazy. So here goes nothing.....

Tuesday the 22nd was my last day to work at home where I had to do a full day of work and a full day of Lilah. It was pretty tough serving "two masters" but I think I actually got a lot done on two fronts - including throwing Lilah at Jason the moment he walked in the door so that I could take a shower. I am really glad that Fridays are only a four hour work day which is easy if I just work during her nap and other low key times.

Wednesday the 23rd was Lilah's first day with Nanny Mamy. It was also

the first day of a two day workshop that I had to be at in Virginia. So I dropped Miss Lilah off, worked a few hours in MD a few blocks away, and then headed down to VA till about 9:30 that night. Upon calling to check in around 3:30 I heard (not from the nanny but from the dad of the other baby) "Wow your Lilah sure does have a set of lungs on her!" Luckily upon further investigation I learned it was only a one time incident and she was just looking for some food. It was wonderful to come home to her after a long day and she and Jason were still up waiting with Lilah size hugs.

Thursday the 24th I had to be in VA at 8:30 for our workshop, so off Lilah went to the nanny bright and early and was a wonderful little girl all day until I picked her up around 6.

--So this is what I have to say about all of that. It is amazing how flexible she is. With the new schedule, and the exhausted, stressed out parents and the new nanny she was happy and smiling through it all. I hope it doesn't all come back to haunt us in the teenage years.--

Friday was my work at home day - but with only four hours to work it went well and Lilah and I had lots of fun together. She really likes to "fly" through the air now!

This weekend Lilah saw SuperBad - OK Lilah slept through it and Jason, Beth, Darryl, Elizabeth, Santiago and I saw SuperBad (which is a darn good thing considering the content of the movie!).

Sunday my friend Erika who is an amazing photographer both for The Nature Conservancy and also does weddings on the weekends (check out her photos at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/erikanortemann) came over for about five hours and took over 300 photos of Lilah! Lots of close ups and fun around the house, and a few family ones as well. She is going to burn them to DVD for me and once I have them I will post a few up here. My goodness did Lilah sleep well that night.

This week so far is quieter but has brought lots of sickness - Jason is sick in bed the last two days and Kirian (nanny share boy) was sick yesterday as well. So keep your fingers crossed for Lilah that she stays healthy and happy.

Happy winter everyone! (OK winter was over a month ago - but it finally feels like it has hit here in the DC metro area). We have had a pretty quiet weekend gearing up for a pretty insane week. As you can see Lilah is ready! (hopefully we are too).

Today is my last non-scheduled day working from home with Lilah and tomorrow she starts with the nanny. The other mom had a wonderful idea that her son should get a full day and then Lilah should before they start together so that the nanny can get to know their schedules. I think that will help a ton. So his day is today and hers tomorrow. Then Thursday it's nanny mania. I am at a conference Wednesday night (yes night) and Thursday all day. So the coordination will be interesting and pumping during the conference will be even more so.
To close out last week. Aunt Karen and Uncle Fred stayed till Friday morning. For those of you who think Hunter may get left behind in all the Lilah craziness that happens here - you can see from the photo on the left he is just as spoiled as she is :). Lilah (and Hunter) had a wonderful week and both have perfected their rolling over techniques.

This photo (besides being too cute not to share) is what happens when you leave a baby alone with her Daddy for too long (just kidding!!). I found this one on the camera the other day when I went to take the below photos. Jason and Lilah were making breakfast together and she was playing with one of her bottles and well - here's what happened! (Lilah does not use a pacifier, which made this even more funny as she is not used to having something in her mouth during the day) She has already started to eat her blankets, toys and hands like a champ. We are already trying to "Lilah proof" the house so any suggestions welcome.

So off to start the week. Leaving you with a few photos of Lilah in her much loved Exersaucer. Boy does this kid know how to pose!

Leaps and Bounds (well at least rolling around)

Lilah is rolling over!! Of course becuase she is extra special (proud mamma talking here) she is going from back to front which she is not suppose to do for a few more months. Now - no comments about how she doesn't go from front to back yet even though she is suppose to do that first. The photo on the left is right after her first roll over all by herself at Elizabeth and Santiago's on Saturday night. She had quite a cheering section! Since then she proved that it was no fluke as she is rolling and rolling and rolling.

Although she can't actually eat anything yet, she has started to enjoy sitting with us at the dinner table and pretending to eat (I promise this is not a posed photo). She even got the spoon in her mouth once and luckily so far not in her eye!

If you have been following along with the blog, you know that my Aunt Karen and Uncle Fred are watching Lilah this week until we start with Nanny Mamy next week. They have been having a great time together and as you can see everyone is even getting a
little sleep!

Catching up with cute pictures

I am so behind in my posting that I am not sure even where to start. So I went though the pics we have taken since the end of the year...

As everyone knows I started back at work this week. Jason was home with Lilah on Monday and Wednesday and this is the photo sent me about noon - it was a great surprise. It is amazing how much bigger she seems when I am away for a whole day.

Luckily, everyone at work could not be more supportive and caring - they even sent me flowers!




Since Lilah is finally able to hold her head up she is finally able to enjoy many of the the wonderful gifts that she has gotten in the last few months. As you can see from these photos she has her own little chair where she can keep us company at the table (or on the counter when Mommy is typing on the computer).





She also has started to go in her Exersaucer but since she is a bit too small for it, we have had to put a phone book under her feet so she can reach. Most of the time she just gums the seat, but today she actually started to reach out and play with the toys.









Speaking of her hand dexterity - you can see she can reach out for her bells now and even feed herself (ok that last one is a bit posed but boy doesn't she look smart!).

Quickie Update

Much to post and catch up on, but wanted to put a quick update for everyone who has called, emailed, etc. to check in on my first day back at work. Things went really well and Lilah and Jason had a great time at home. Although I missed her terribly it was good to be using the other side of my brain a bit.
